Job summary

CruiTek, LLC is seeking a Kubernetes Infrastructure Engineer for a remote, one-year project. You will build and maintain on-premises Kubernetes clusters, handle lifecycle, deploy applications, and manage networking, storage, and observability. Strong client-facing communication is essential as you work with teams to migrate services and resolve escalations.

The role emphasizes Bash/Python scripting, Helm or templating, and building robust CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and applications.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and maintain on-premises Kubernetes clusters from ground up (control plane, networking, CSI, ingress).
• Manage cluster lifecycle: upgrades, patching, scaling, decommissioning.
• Deploy, configure, and manage containerized apps on Kubernetes infra.
• Administer Linux servers underpinning the Kubernetes environment.
• Monitor cluster health and troubleshoot node/pod issues; plan capacity.
• Manage container runtimes, registries, and image lifecycle.
• Configure cluster networking (Calico or similar), load balancers, DNS.
• Implement and manage persistent storage (NFS, local PV, CSI drivers).
• Support internal teams with migrations and escalations.

Scope Operations:

• Building, deploying, and maintaining on-premises Kubernetes clusters from the ground up, including control plane components, etc, networking (CNI), storage (CSI), and ingress controllers
• Performing Kubernetes cluster lifecycle management: upgrades, patching, scaling, and decommissioning
• Deploying, configuring, and managing containerized applications on existing Kubernetes infrastructure
• Administering and troubleshooting Linux-based servers that underpin the Kubernetes environment
• Monitoring cluster health, diagnosing node and pod-level issues, and performing capacity planning
• Managing container runtimes (e.g. container), container registries, and image lifecycle
• Configuring and maintaining cluster networking (Calico or similar CNI plugins), load balancers, and DNS
• Implementing and managing persistent storage solutions (NFS, local PV, or CSI drivers)
• Supporting internal teams with service migrations to Kubernetes, troubleshooting deployment issues, and handling escalations

Engineering

• Writing and maintaining automation scripts (Bash, Python) for cluster provisioning, configuration management, and operational tasks
• Creating and maintaining Helm charts, or other templating solutions for application deployments
• Building and improving CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application delivery
• Creating, modifying, and reviewing technical documentation and runbooks

Skills - Must Have

• Experience building and maintaining Kubernetes clusters from scratch
• Experience deploying & managing applications
• Linux OS admin & troubleshooting
• Scripting & coding skills in Bash &or Python
• Docker, container, OCI images, container registries
• Experience with bare-metal Kubernetes deployments (as opposed to managed cloud services)
• Familiarity with cluster bootstrapping tools (kubeadm or similar)
• Experience with monitoring and observability stacks (Prometheus, or similar)
