Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Senior Cloud Kubernetes Engineer to maintain and optimize Kubernetes-based workloads, including Appian and .NET services, across AWS. You will implement CI/CD pipelines, manage Helm deployments, and strengthen security controls to align with FedRAMP/NIST standards.

The role requires 5+ years in cloud operations, strong AWS EKS expertise, and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Washington, DC area on-site with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• 5+ years of overall work experience.
• 3+ years in Cloud Kubernetes Operations, DevOps, or SRE.
• Hands-on AWS EKS experience (kubectl, namespaces, resource limits) and Helm charts.
• AWS GovCloud familiarity and core AWS infra knowledge.
• Experience supporting .NET environments and familiarity with Appian or BPM engines.
• Must obtain and maintain a Public Trust; US citizenship or Green Card required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor Kubernetes pods, services, and ingress controllers for Appian workloads and .NET apps.
• Package .NET apps in Windows or Linux containers and deploy via Helm charts and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Monitor Appian platform layers using the Appian Operator on Kubernetes.
• Update Terraform/CloudFormation modules for core AWS services (EC2, EKS, RDS, IAM, VPCs).
• Perform cluster updates, patch vulnerabilities, and enforce RBAC per FedRAMP/NIST SP 800-53.
• Configure alerts, dashboards, and log streaming with Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch to minimize downtime.

What You Will Do:

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor Kubernetes pods, services, and ingress controllers hosting Appian stateful workloads and .NET applications.
• Assist development teams in packaging .NET applications (Windows or Linux containers) and deploying them via Helm charts and established CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions).
• Monitor the health and connectivity of self-managed Appian platform layers (Engines, Data Server, Kafka/Zookeeper data planes) utilizing the Appian Operator on Kubernetes.
• Maintain and update existing Terraform or CloudFormation modules to manage core AWS services (EC2, EKS, RDS, IAM, and VPCs).
• Execute routine cluster updates, patch container vulnerabilities, and implement RBAC policies to ensure alignment with FedRAMP or NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
• Configure alerts, dashboards, and log streaming using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or AWS CloudWatch to minimize downtime.

What You Will Need:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Minimum of FIVE (5+) years of overall work experience.
• THREE (3+) years of professional experience in Cloud Kubernetes Operations, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
• Strong hands-on experience using AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (AWS EKS) (kubectl, managing namespaces, resource limits) and writing/modifying Helm charts.
• AWS & GovCloud Familiarity: Core knowledge of AWS foundational infrastructure with an understanding of navigating the operational constraints of secure or regulated cloud boundaries.
• Familiarity supporting .NET application environments and an interest in or exposure to enterprise low-code platform topologies (like Appian or similar BPM engines).
• Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
• US Citizenship or Green Card required. Visa Sponsorship is not eligible for this role.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer Associate or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional
• Hands-on experience or familiarity with the Appian Operator on Kubernetes, including managing Appian Custom Resources (CRs) and monitoring underlying data plane components like Apache Kafka.
• Experience containerizing legacy .NET Framework applications into Windows containers or working with cloud-native .NET Core/6/8 microservices running on Linux containers.
• Experience utilizing declarative continuous delivery tools such as ArgoCD or FluxCD to sync and maintain cluster states directly from Git repositories.

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000.00-$141,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
