About the Job
Under the project manager's guidance, the interpreter relays oral information between speakers of different languages in consecutive, simultaneous (if requested), and sight translation modes, adhering to ALTA policies and confidentiality standards. The interpreter follows all applicable Standards of Practice and Codes of Ethics.

Job Responsibilities

• Render messages accurately, maintaining content, context, and style.
• Facilitate effective communication between parties speaking different languages.
• Maintain professionalism in demeanor and communication.
• Protect confidentiality according to protocols, HIPAA, and industry standards.
• Act as a cultural broker when necessary.
• Identify and resolve meaning conflicts related to words, concepts, or behaviors.
• Utilize industry-specific terminology and cultural knowledge.
• Interpret idiomatic expressions and cultural nuances effectively.
• Perform interpretation in consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation modes.
• Read aloud and translate documents as needed.
• Contribute as a cultural and linguistic resource to ensure successful outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with team members and clients.
• Follow ALTA policies on customer relations and manage schedules to meet deadlines.
• Use communication tools for prompt responses.

Linguistic Skills:

• Native fluency in English and the target language (specified in job title).

• National certification preferred.
