Job summary

Coach is seeking a Design Associate, Knits in New York to collaborate with the Senior Knitwear Designer and translate concepts into market-ready knits, from swatches to prototypes.

You will create flats and mockups in Illustrator/Photoshop, support design cards for suppliers, and help manage the materials library and seasonal line sheets while coordinating with Merchandising and Product Development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Design or related field
• 2-4 years’ experience in knits design
• Knowledge of knits construction, gauges, stitches, yarns
• Strong knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge of design software PointCarre is a bonus
• Proven ability to sketch and spec
• Strong color sense
• Fashion/luxury brand experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Senior Knitwear Designer to research and develop knit designs from swatch development to first prototype
• Adhere to timeline milestones and calendar dates for seasonal concepts
• Create design flats and creative mock ups using Illustrator and Photoshop
• Support in creation of design cards to pass clear information to suppliers
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Merchandising and Product Development
• Manage and distribute seasonal line sheets
• Support in managing local development and maintain materials library
