Position Overview
Kitchen Team Member (Line Cook) at HomeState, a Texas‑inspired kitchen located in Los Angeles, California. The role reports to the Kitchen Manager or Assistant General Manager and focuses on delivering high‑quality food and exceptional service while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.

Core Skills & Responsibilities
- Maintain guest focus by adhering to sanitation standards, portion sizes, recipes, and effective packaging.
- Manage time efficiently and take initiative on prep lists, cleaning tasks and checklists.
- Address equipment, product, quality or safety concerns promptly.
- Support teamwork through training and collaboration with all kitchen stations.
- Follow all HomeState standards, sanitation guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain predictable attendance for scheduled shifts, training and meetings.
Line Cook Duties
- Regulate ovens, fryers and other kitchen equipment, conducting line checks.
- Ensure product quality through tasting, FIFO rotation, labeling and proper storage.
- Carry product, equipment and utensils to and from storage and work areas; keep line stations stocked.
- Read and understand orders on the KDS screen.
Cleaning & Organizational Duties
- Sanitize workstations, equipment and kitchen spaces, including griddles, fryers and ovens.
- Load dishwashing machines and keep the dish area organized.
- Remove trash, clean kitchen garbage containers, sweep and mop as needed.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in a professional restaurant kitchen preferred.
- Personable, enjoys working with people and a diverse team.
- Availability to work weekends, day and evening shifts.
- Valid Food Handlers Certification Card, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
Physical Requirements
- Remain stationary for long periods (6+ hours per shift, excluding breaks).
- Lift, push, pull or carry up to 40 pounds.
- Frequently bend, reach overhead, and work with utensils and equipment.
- Work in fluctuating temperatures from ~82°F to ~37°F.
- Operate near open flames, hot cooking equipment, and steam.
- Perform repetitive motions and work in tight spaces.
