Title: Utility Worker

Location: Eastcastle Place

Salary : $15.00/ hour (note we are a no tip facility)

Position Type: full time, Non-Exempt

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm, every other weekend 11:00 am - 7:30 pm

Are you someone others can count on to show up, stay productive, and step in wherever you're needed? Eastcastle Place is looking for a responsible, dependable, and Hardworking Utility Worker to join our Hospitality Services team.

At Eastcastle Place, you’ll witness the incredible life stories of some of the wisest individuals. We’ve been proudly serving seniors for over 140 years, offering a continuum of care that promotes active and fulfilling lifestyles while respecting the dignity and independence of each resident. But that’s just the beginning! On our team you’ll also be part of a remarkable organization dedicated to shaping the future of senior living—by investing in you. Don’t just take a job; embrace the chance to be part of something extraordinary!

This isn't a position where you'll do the exact same thing every shift. Our Utility Worker is a flexible member of the team who helps keep our food service operations running smoothly behind the scenes. Depending on the needs of the day, you may work in dishwashing and sanitation, assist with food preparation, support Health Center meal service, stock kitchen areas, or help with Bistro and dining operations.

We're looking for someone who takes responsibility for their work, uses good judgment, follows through on assignments, and can be trusted to work independently. You should be comfortable receiving direction, adjusting when priorities change, and recognizing what needs to be done without always waiting to be asked.

What you'll do:
  • Wash, sanitize, organize, and put away dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Operate the dish machine and three-compartment sink while completing required temperature and sanitizer checks.
  • Assist cooks with basic food preparation, including washing, cutting, portioning, labeling, and storing food.
  • Stock food, supplies, prep areas, serving lines, and kitchen stations.
  • Assist with Health Center meal preparation and service, including following resident meal tickets, therapeutic diets, allergies, and documented preferences.
  • Support Independent Living dining and Bistro operations when needed.
  • Complete sweeping, mopping, garbage removal, stocking, and deep-cleaning assignments.
  • Keep work areas clean, safe, organized, and ready for service.
  • Communicate low-stock items, food quality concerns, equipment problems, or safety issues to a supervisor.
  • Move between different Hospitality areas based on the needs of the department.
  • Provide professional and courteous service to residents, guests, and fellow employees.
What you'll bring:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous food service experience preferred, particularly in senior living, healthcare, or a similar environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good judgment and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with residents, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Willingness to learn multiple areas of Hospitality Services.
  • Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, infection-control, and department procedures.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
You’ll be successful in this role if you:
  • Show up when you're scheduled and are ready to work.
  • Take responsibility for completing your work correctly and completely.
  • Can be trusted to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Notice what needs to be done and take initiative.
  • Accept direction and feedback professionally.
  • Stay productive even when a supervisor isn't standing nearby.
  • Are flexible when you're asked to switch tasks or help another area.
  • Understand that every job matters—from washing dishes to preparing a resident's meal.
  • Communicate when there's a problem instead of ignoring it.
  • Treat residents, coworkers, and supervisors with respect.
  • Take food safety, cleanliness, and resident dietary needs seriously.
  • Want to become a dependable, long-term member of the team.
Why you'll love us:
