Wage range: $21.00 minimum start, plus based on experience

Schedule: 11:30 AM - 7:30 PM, days off are Thursday and Friday. Support team and fill shifts for unscheduled call outs if needed.

Location: 150 E Huron, Chicago, IL, with travel to Northbrook, Oakbrook, and other downtown Chicago locations. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Your Impact

Under the direction of the Food Service Director and Chef Kitchen Manager, the Kitchen Supervisor is a key leadership role responsible for the successful operation of culinary services. This includes overseeing meal planning, hands-on cooking, preparation, presentation, and service. Collaborating with the nutrition team, you will help develop menus that meet dietary needs and preferences, focusing on flavor, creativity, and culinary excellence. Your leadership will ensure our culinary team contributes to the health, healing, satisfaction, and recovery of patients and residents.

Job Specific Duties

  • Experience in Kitchen Operations and knowledge of all kitchen positions
  • Assist with menu planning and development
  • Lead by example and provide hands-on leadership
  • Work all kitchen positions as required
  • Supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks and other personnel
  • Provide training and development for staff
  • Food preparation for retail and presentation
  • Ensure high standards of dish quality and visual appeal
  • Maintain consistency across all dishes
  • Assist with inventory ordering and budget management
  • Manage inventory levels and place orders as needed
  • Monitor food costs and adjust portions or menus accordingly
  • Implement waste management procedures to minimize food waste
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Enforce food safety practices, including proper storage and handling
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively, especially when questions arise
  • Interact with residents to gather feedback and address concerns
  • Participate in budget planning and execution
  • Support shift coverage as needed
  • Execute catering events
  • Maintain sanitation and regulatory compliance
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Culinary preferred
  • Hospital or healthcare experience preferred
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  • Ability to provide work authorization documentation; E-Verify compliance
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License and own transportation

Physical and Sensory Requirements

Must be able to stand and walk extensively, lift and carry up to 25 pounds, push/pull food hot boxes up to 50 pounds, bend and stoop, and have manual dexterity. Visual and hearing acuity are required, along with the ability to assess food quality and presentation, and tolerate exposure to temperature variations.
