Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional restaurant or commercial kitchen experience.
  • Lead cook, shift lead, kitchen supervisor, or similar role preferred.
  • Strong line-cooking skills and ability to lead service during high-volume periods.
  • Experience working across multiple kitchen stations.
  • Solid understanding of prep, production, recipes, portioning, and food presentation.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, proper food handling, and commercial kitchen practices.
  • Ability to train, coach, and provide direction to kitchen team members.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Stay calm, organized, and engaged in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Willingness to jump in wherever needed.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Harpoon Brewery is looking for an experienced and motivated Kitchen Supervisor to join our hospitality team at our brewery and restaurant in Windsor, Vermont.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves the energy of a busy kitchen, takes pride in great food, and knows how to help a team perform at its best. The Kitchen Supervisor works closely with the Kitchen Manager to support daily back-of-house operations, maintain high standards for food quality and safety, coach and develop our kitchen team, and deliver a consistently great experience for every guest.

You'll be an active part of the kitchen team-working the line, directing service, coaching in the moment, solving problems, and helping keep the kitchen organized and running smoothly. This is a great opportunity for an experienced cook, lead cook, or kitchen supervisor who is ready to take the next step in leadership.

What You'll Do

As Kitchen Supervisor, you'll help support and lead day-to-day kitchen operations, including:

  • Support the Kitchen Manager in the daily operation of the back of house and provide leadership during assigned shifts.
  • Lead by example, working alongside the team and stepping into kitchen stations as needed during service.
  • Help direct cooks and kitchen team members to ensure food is prepared safely, accurately, consistently, and on time.
  • Help maintain strong standards for food quality, recipe execution, portioning, presentation, and ticket times.
  • Train and coach employees on kitchen procedures, recipes, equipment, sanitation, food safety, and operating standards.
  • Provide real-time feedback and direction to kitchen team members and communicate performance concerns to the Kitchen Manager.
  • Help maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, health code, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Support food preparation and production planning based on anticipated business levels.
  • Assist with receiving, storage, inventory, and organization of food and kitchen supplies.
  • Participate in food inventory counts and help maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Help monitor food waste, portion control, and proper product handling.
  • Assist with the execution of menu items and weekly food specials.
  • Complete kitchen opening and closing responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and well-stocked kitchen throughout each shift.
  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house leadership to support smooth service and a great guest experience.
  • Help create a kitchen culture built around teamwork, accountability, communication, and respect.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with strong kitchen fundamentals who is ready to take ownership of a shift and help lead others.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • 2+ years of professional restaurant or commercial kitchen experience.
  • Previous experience as a lead cook, shift lead, kitchen supervisor, or similar role preferred.
  • Strong line-cooking skills and the ability to help lead service during high-volume periods.
  • Experience working across multiple kitchen stations.
  • A solid understanding of prep, production, recipes, portioning, and food presentation.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, proper food handling, and commercial kitchen practices.

  • The ability to stay calm, organized, and engaged in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • A dependable, team-first approach and willingness to jump in wherever needed.
  • A genuine passion for food, hospitality, and creating great guest experiences.
  • An interest in craft beer and brewery hospitality.
  • ServSafe certification or the ability to successfully complete certification.
  • Culinary education or formal culinary training is a plus, but not required.

Schedule & Work Environment

This is a full-time position based onsite at Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, Vermont.

Because we're in the hospitality business, availability for nights, weekends, and holidays is required. The position involves working in an active commercial kitchen environment and requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, reach, twist, and stoop; safely operate commercial kitchen equipment; and regularly lift and move products and supplies weighing up to approximately 65 pounds.
