Job description

We seek a highly motivated and experienced Kitchen Staff Worker to prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children in a child care facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy kitchen environment while adhering to all regulatory agency guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare all meals and snacks following issued menus and directives.
  2. Keep accurate records including inventory and production records.
  3. Comply with all Center regulations and guidelines.
  4. Follow all regulatory agency guidelines and regulations.
  5. Wash kitchenware and tableware.
  6. Keep kitchen, appliances, etc., clean, sanitized, and in good working condition.
  7. Inventory food supply, reporting needs to the Lead Cook.
  8. Report maintenance or non-food supply needs in the kitchen.
  9. Assist with ordering supplies if requested.
  10. Properly store food and non-food supplies upon delivery.
  11. Ensure all food items are stored properly and at the appropriate temperature.
  12. Date all food items.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
  14. Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  15. Transport elementary children on a 15-passenger bus to local schools.
Qualifications
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Clean driving record.
  3. Preferred: one year of professional experience in food service and/or experience cooking for large groups.
Physical and Mental Demands
  1. Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  2. Ability to reach overhead.
  3. Good personal hygiene (clean clothes, hair, hands, nails, etc.).
  4. Ability to bend down.
  5. Finger dexterity.
  6. Ability to read and understand all documents.
  7. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  8. Ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
