Description

Job Summary:

The Kitchen Staff position is responsible for assisting the Food Service Manager in providing nutritious, well-prepared meals, served to all members of the camp community. They also assist with sanitation throughout camp as assigned.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties as assigned)

  1. Assist in the management of daily operations of the camp food and dining service, including coordinating distribution between the kitchen and dining hall, ensuring food is prepared in a safe and efficient manner, and served on time.
  2. Assist with meal preparation as assigned, including washing, peeling, chopping, baking, mixing, etc.
  3. Assist in routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment; clean and maintain all food preparation and storage areas.
  4. Assist in the daily cleaning of all dishes.
  5. Assist in the daily cleaning of the kitchen and dining hall.
  6. Assist the Food Service Manager in receiving and unpacking food orders.
  7. Assist the Food Service Manager in packing weekly cook-out dinner and breakfast boxes.
  8. Work as a member of the food service team to meet kitchen goals of timely, well-prepared meals.
  9. Assist with weekly camp clean up, including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and trash pick-up.
  10. Sanitize various areas throughout the property according to camp guidelines.
  11. Adhere to all COVID-19 protocols required by NYS Department of Health and GSNYPENN.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Kitchen Staff does not supervise employees.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

  1. Be at least 17 years of age.
  2. Knowledge of and experience with food service, including food preparation and cleaning.
  3. Ability to operate dishwashing equipment.
  4. Ability to work as a member of a food service team.
  5. Believe in the Girl Scout mission.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects.
  3. Possess good character, integrity, patience, sense of humor, enthusiasm, and flexibility.
  4. Ability to work productively in a fast-paced, stressful environment.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Light mental and visual attention required for performing work with some variety.

Physical Exertion:

  1. Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
  2. Walking on uneven terrain, up and down hills for distances up to ½ mile.
  3. Endurance to meet emergency needs.
  4. Ability to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours.

Environmental Conditions:

The employee is subject to inside and/or outside environmental conditions, noise, outdoor elements such as rain, wind, sun, heat, and animals.
