Job summary

Adventures in Learning is seeking a dependable Kitchen Staff/Cook to support daily meal operations for our Preschool/Childcare center in Atlantic City, NJ. The role involves cooking for multiple classrooms, planning menus, managing inventory, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen in a child-focused environment.

The position runs full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am–4:30pm, with no evenings or weekends. Must pass background checks and meet state childcare requirements; benefits include training,

Qualifications

• Prior cooking experience in childcare, school, cafeteria, or commercial kitchen preferred.
• Ability to prepare multiple meals at once and follow structured menus.
• Strong understanding of food safety, cleanliness standards, and cross-contamination prevention.
• Comfortable working around children and assisting with basic childcare tasks.
• Must pass background checks and meet state childcare requirements.

Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation — Prepare lunch, snacks, and dinner for multiple classrooms following center menus and portion guidelines.
• Monthly Menu Planning — Assist in creating the monthly food schedule/menu in alignment with licensing and nutritional standards.
• Inventory Management — Track food, and cleaning supplies; notify leadership when items need to be reordered.
• Kitchen Cleanliness — Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times; follow all food safety and hygiene protocols.
• Laundry Duties — Wash and fold center laundry (bedding, towels, etc.) as scheduled.
• Child Assistance — Support staff with escorting children to the bathroom, diaper changes, and supervising during nap times.
• Compliance & Safety — Follow all state licensing regulations, allergy protocols, and center policies.

Position Summary

Adventures in Learning is seeking a dependable, organized, and safety‑minded Kitchen Staff/Cook to support our Preschool and Early Learning center’s daily meal operations. The ideal candidate has prior experience preparing meals in volume, has knowledge of childcare and adult food program guidelines, follows strict cleanliness and safety standards, and is comfortable assisting with basic childcare needs.

This role is essential to keeping our center running smoothly—supporting nutrition, maintaining a clean and compliant kitchen, and contributing to a positive environment for children and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation — Prepare lunch, snacks, and dinner for multiple classrooms following center menus and portion guidelines.
• Monthly Menu Planning — Assist in creating the monthly food schedule/menu in alignment with licensing and nutritional standards.
• Inventory Management — Track food, and cleaning supplies; notify leadership when items need to be reordered.
• Kitchen Cleanliness — Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times; follow all food safety and hygiene protocols.

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Must pass background checks and meet state childcare requirements.

Schedule

Full‑time, Monday–Friday 8am-4:30pm. No nights, weekends, or major holidays.
