A catering kitchen that serves thousands of guests per week doesn't run on talent alone — it runs on discipline, cleanliness, and organization. Green Apple Catering & Events is hiring a Kitchen Porter who understands that food safety starts with a clean facility. You'll be the person who keeps our production kitchen operating at the standards required by our DOHMH license and HACCP certification. Every chef, every event, every client depends on the work you do.
As a Porter at Green Apple, you'll maintain the cleanliness and organization of our production kitchen, storage areas, and loading zones. This means washing equipment, sanitizing prep surfaces, organizing dry and cold storage, and supporting the culinary team during high-volume production days. It's physical work with real purpose — our ability to serve clients like Amazon and Morgan Stanley starts with the conditions in this kitchen.
Green Apple has operated in New York City since 2004, building a production kitchen that supports events for up to 3,000 guests. Our DOHMH license and HACCP certification require every team member — from the executive chef to the porter — to uphold strict sanitation and food safety standards. Porters at Green Apple aren't overlooked; they're recognized as essential to every successful event we produce. You'll earn competitive pay, work with a professional culinary team, and have the opportunity to grow into prep cook and production cook roles.
Porters at Green Apple typically work full-time shifts aligned with kitchen production schedules. Most shifts start early morning and run through the afternoon, though hours may vary based on event volume and seasonal demand.
This is primarily a kitchen-based role at our production facility. However, during large-scale events, porters may assist with equipment loading, venue setup, or on-site dishwashing depending on operational needs.
Green Apple maintains a DOHMH food service license and follows HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) protocols. This means every surface, piece of equipment, and storage area must meet strict sanitation requirements — and the Porter plays a central role in maintaining those standards daily.
Prior kitchen or food service experience is helpful but not required. What matters most is reliability, physical fitness, and a willingness to learn our cleaning procedures and food safety protocols. We provide training on all SOPs during onboarding.
