About the gig:
Surly Pizza is our award-winning pizza and beer hall in Minneapolis, Minneapolis. Now, we’re bringing the heat to Grand Forks—and we need a badass Kitchen Manager to lead the charge. This is a hands-on role. You’ll be in the kitchen, managing the team, keeping the trains running on time, and making damn good pizza.
Before we open, you’ll train with our team at the mothership in Minneapolis (length of time TBD) to get fully dialed in on recipes, prep systems, and the Surly way of doing things. Surly will be picking up the tab to cover housing costs associated with the training in Minneapolis. As this is a satellite location, there will be some extra admin duties, so being organized and proactive is key.
You are:
• A kitchen vet with management experience (bonus points if you’ve worked with pizza)
• Comfortable in a scratch kitchen with high-volume service
• Creative, detail-obsessed, and calm under pressure
• A people person who leads from the line, not the office
• Able to handle heat (literally—it’s a kitchen)
• Ready to stand, hustle, and do what it takes to lead a top-tier crew
You’ll handle:
• Hiring, scheduling, and leading the hourly team
• Training new staff to Surly standards
• Maintaining a clean, organized, high-output kitchen
• Admin work like payroll reporting and inventory
Perks + Pay:
• Salary: $55k–$65k
• Bonus: Up to $10k based on sales, labor, and food cost
