Statement of the Job

A Kitchen Manager oversees the convenience store and food operations of a truck stop according to company policies and procedures to ensure maximum sales and profitability. He/She supervises personnel within the store. Work closely with the General Manager to continually improve the food service department. We pay managers hourly, so get paid for what you work, rather than those other companies that abuse and put you on salary.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Have responsibility for the successful operation of the Food Service. Be able to perform all duties and responsibilities expected of any store associate and all other duties assigned or requested.
  • Be responsible for meeting or exceeding store guidelines, including inventory, cash shortages, and budgeted hours.
  • Develop and maintain a staffing schedule to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and store cleanliness within budget guidelines.
  • Perform all administrative duties accurately and timely, including required reports.
  • Follow all corporate cash procedures and enforce cash policies.
  • Manage customer relations courteously for maximum satisfaction.
  • Ensure store maintenance and report major equipment issues to the general manager.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures within the store.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws on store operations and ensure store safety.
  • Maintain proper stock levels and supplies, monitor gasoline inventories, and report discrepancies.
  • Interview, hire, train, evaluate, counsel, discipline, and terminate store personnel as needed.
  • Attend manager meetings, training sessions, and conduct employee meetings.
Job Duties: CHAMPS CHICKEN
  • Prepare all food items as directed, following recipes and sanitation standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and equipment.
  • Restock items throughout the shift.
  • Comply with all sanitation and food production codes.

Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly or twice monthly

Starting pay is $16.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending on experience. Advanced management experience may lead to higher starting pay.

Additional pay: $.50/hour for midnight to 6 a.m. shifts (see company policy).

Performance reviews are possible within 90 days, with annual reviews thereafter.

Benefits include health insurance (available within 90 days), vacation pay, overtime pay over 40 hours, annual store profit bonus, and overtime pay during holidays.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality customer service and store appearance.
  • Operate cash register and handle cash, lottery tickets, and cash cards.
  • Complete shift reports and maintain cleanliness of the store.
  • Stock shelves and coolers, and perform yard maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and guests.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions.
  • Physical requirements include frequent bending, reaching, lifting 1-15 lbs, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be available for weekend, evening, and holiday shifts.
  • Wear the required store uniform.
