Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily breakfast and lunch preparation and service.
• Supervise, schedule, train, and support kitchen staff and student workers.
• Ensure compliance with USDA, Maine DOE, and school nutrition requirements.
• Maintain meal counts, production records, temperature logs, and POS transactions.
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures are followed.
• Monitor inventory, deliveries, ordering, portion control, and food waste.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and cafeteria environment.
• Collaborate with the Food Service Director and school staff to address needs.
• Support a positive, welcoming dining experience for students and staff.

Ellsworth High School Kitchen Manager

Full-Time, School-Year Position

The Ellsworth School Department is seeking an experienced and organized High School Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily food service operations at Ellsworth High School. This position works under the direction of the Food Service Director and is responsible for meal preparation and service, staff supervision, food safety, inventory, and compliance with school nutrition requirements.

The Kitchen Manager plays an important role in providing nutritious, high-quality meals while creating a welcoming, efficient, and student-centered dining environment.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Coordinating daily breakfast and lunch preparation and service
• Supervising, scheduling, training, and supporting kitchen staff and student workers
• Ensuring compliance with USDA, Maine Department of Education, and school nutrition program requirements
• Maintaining accurate meal counts, production records, temperature logs, and POS transactions
• Ensuring food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures are followed
• Monitoring inventory, deliveries, ordering needs, portion control, and food waste
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and cafeteria environment
• Collaborating with the Food Service Director and school staff to address operational and student needs
• Supporting a positive and welcoming dining experience for students and staff

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; culinary, nutrition, or food service education preferred

• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
• ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain

Anticipated hourly wage range for the 2026-2027 school year is $23.75 to $26.70.
