  • Ability to work from written menus and standard recipes.
  • Considerable knowledge of health hazards in food prep and service and of effective precautionary measures.
  • Ability to handle knives and other sharp items in a safe manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow direction from supervisor.
  • Ability to work long hours while standing and under conditions of high temperatures.

  • Prepare custom food for specific outlets within the Center.

  • Occasionally assist with plating and moving plated meals to event areas.

Job description

Position Summary

Position will assist with preparation and presentation of food for the Savannah Room, Courtyard Café, Training Table, and or Banquets (AM/PM).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Kitchen prep (cutting meat and vegetables, preparing food for service, maintenance of event food levels) – 60%
  • Prepare custom food for specific outlets within the Center – 20%
  • Keep preparation and work stations clean and organized – 15%
  • Occasionally work with staff to help plate up and move plated banquet meals to event area – 5%

Employment Type: Employee
Work Schedule: Up to 40 hours per week based on business needs. Hours are not guaranteed. May be required to work when the University is closed.
Salary: minimum $16 per hour
