Job summary

Century Fire Protection in Duluth, GA is seeking a service technician to inspect and maintain commercial kitchen hood fire suppression systems, ensuring NFPA 17A compliance and local codes. You will work independently and with a service team to support safety and company commitments.

This role requires a high school diploma, 2–5 years of field experience, relevant permits and manufacturer certifications, and a readiness to travel up to 25% and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 2-5 years’ experience servicing kitchen hood suppression systems preferred.
• Pre-engineered Kitchen Fire Suppression Systems Permit and Portable Fire Extinguisher Permit preferred.
• Manufacturer certifications (Ansul, Pyro-Chem, Kidde) preferred.
• Knowledge of NFPA 17A and applicable local codes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, service, and maintain kitchen hood suppression systems in accordance with NFPA 17A and local codes.
• Perform system installations, repairs, and upgrades as needed.
• Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and communicate findings to customers and internal teams.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and deficiency notices accurately and timely.
• Coordinate with customers, fire marshals, and scheduling teams to ensure service delivery.
• Maintain service vehicles, tools, and inventory in accordance with company standards.
• Follow all safety procedures, including PPE and safe work practices.
• Participate in on-call rotations or after-hours service as required.

Summary

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office applications; ability to use mobile service software, smartphones, and basic computer applications and email.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces; ability to work at heights and in occupied buildings; ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; field-based role at commercial, industrial, and multi-family properties; exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and electrical environments; On-call rotation and occasional overtime may be required.
