Job summary

Century Fire Protection in Duluth, GA is seeking a field service technician to inspect, test, service, and repair commercial kitchen hood fire suppression systems. You will work independently and with a service team to support customer safety, regulatory compliance, and company service commitments.

The role requires a high school diploma and 2-5 years’ experience with hood suppression systems; certifications (Ansul, Pyro-Chem, Kidde) and NFPA 17A knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 2-5 years’ experience servicing kitchen hood suppression systems preferred.
• Permits for pre-engineered kitchen fire suppression systems and portable extinguishers preferred.
• Certifications (e.g., Ansul, Pyro-Chem, Kidde) preferred; knowledge of NFPA 17A and local codes.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, service, and maintain kitchen hood suppression systems per NFPA 17A and manufacturer specs.
• Perform system installations, repairs, and upgrades as needed.
• Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to customers and internal teams.
• Complete service documentation and deficiency notices accurately and timely.
• Coordinate with customers and scheduling teams to ensure on-time service delivery.
• Maintain service vehicles, tools, and inventory according to company standards.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE use, and safe work practices.
• Participate in on-call rotations or after-hours service as required.

Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, service, and maintain kitchen hood fire suppression systems in accordance with NFPA 17A, manufacturer requirements, and local fire codes.
• Perform system installations, repairs, and upgrades as needed.
• Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and communicate findings to customers and internal teams.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and deficiency notices accurately and timely.
• Coordinate with customers, fire marshals, and internal scheduling teams to ensure successful service delivery.
• Maintain service vehicles, tools, and inventory in accordance with company standards.
• Follow all safety procedures, including use of PPE and safe work practices.
• Participate in on-call rotations or after-hours service as required.

Education and Experience

High school diploma and 2-5 years’ experience servicing kitchen hood suppression systems or related fire protection systems preferred; Pre‑engineered Kitchen Fire Suppression Systems Permit and Portable Fire Extinguisher Permit preferred; manufacturer certifications (e.g., Ansul, Pyro‑Chem, Kidde) preferred; knowledge of NFPA 17A and applicable local codes preferred.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office applications; ability to use mobile service software, smartphones, and basic computer applications and email.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces; ability to work at heights and in occupied buildings; ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; field‑based role at commercial, industrial, and multi‑family properties; exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and electrical environments; on‑call rotation and occasional overtime may be required.
