Job summary

Smart Care Solutions in New Haven is seeking a Kitchen Equipment Service Technician to support a wide range of commercial foodservice equipment. You will partner with managers to deliver comprehensive service solutions, leveraging mechanical aptitude, diagnostic skills, and ability to read schematics.

The role includes on-the-job and ongoing training, a company vehicle and fuel card, and a full benefits program including 401k, pension, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (must).
• At least 1 year of technical experience with refrigeration, appliance repair, kitchen equipment, HVAC, or military service.
• Valid state-issued Real ID driver's license and clean motor vehicle history.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation including nights and weekends.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.

About the Role:

As a Service Technician, you will become a trusted advisor to your customers by consistently delivering innovative solutions to predict and prevent kitchen equipment failure, contributing to the success of thousands of restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and other commercial customers.

What Will Your Day Look Like?

• Partner with restaurant and hospitality managers to offer comprehensive service solutions for commercial cooking, refrigeration, warewashing, and other specialty food service equipment
• Demonstrate your mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and ability to read diagrams and schematics

Basic Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of one (1) year of technical experience with refrigeration, appliance repair, kitchen equipment, HVAC, or military service
• Valid state issued Real ID driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle history
• Willingness and ability to be involved with the emergency on-call rotation that includes nights and weekends
• Availability for occasional overnight travel as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant technical training, licenses, and/or certifications (i.e., EPA, CFESA)
• Commercial refrigeration and/or commercial cooking equipment repair experience
• Self-motivated with the proven ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal direct supervision

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds regularly.
• Ability to frequently bend, kneel, push, pull, reach, and squat throughout the workday.
• Ability to work on ladders, rooftops, elevated platforms, and in confined or tight spaces when necessary.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, freezing, and other challenging environmental conditions.
• Ability to work around moving mechanical parts, pressurized equipment, open flames, heated surfaces, liquids, and electrical hazards.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and related service equipment.
• Ability to distinguish colors, read technical documents and gauges, and perform diagnostic work.
• Frequent driving to customer locations, including extended periods of sitting.
