The Kitchen Equipment Manager assigned to School Nutrition performs a variety of job functions essential to the successful operation of the local school cafeterias. The Kitchen Equipment Manager is assigned to communities in the district. The job functions include performing comprehensive diagnosis and repair of all Rowan-Salisbury Schools cafeteria equipment involving the skills of two or more maintenance and/or craft occupations to keep all kitchen equipment, mechanical equipment, or the structure of the kitchens in good operating order, customer service; program regulations and accountability; equipment use and care; and professional excellence. The kitchen equipment manager works under the supervision of a SN Kitchen Maintenance Supervisor, and in partnership with others in the SN, Maintenance Department and school district to support a sound nutrition food program while following federal, state, and local guidelines.
Works with the School Nutrition Administration and School Nutrition staff to ensure that kitchen equipment is maintained in good operating order.
Follows operational procedures for efficient and effective preventative maintenance on all applicable kitchen equipment.
Maintains integrity and accountability of the School Nutrition Program through compliance with all federal,
state, and local regulations.
Maintains accountability of recorded documentation for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensures compliance with school/district/SN policies and procedures.
Performs all duties and responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner.
Demonstrates a positive attitude and team member skills of the school community.
High school Diploma required.
Vocational training in food service equipment maintenance and repair, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration or related field and 5+ years of experience in related field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities, preferred.
A valid NC driver’s license is required.
Must be physically able to operate a variety of mechanical or electronic equipment and tools including diagnostic and testing equipment, hand tools and power tools, etc. Must be able to exert up to 150 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires the ability to climb and maneuver on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and in tight places. Physical demand requirements are for heavy work.
