Job summary

The University of Iowa's University Housing & Dining is seeking a Kitchen Helper I at Hillcrest Marketplace to perform routine cleaning duties in food service areas under direct supervision. Primary duties include scrubbing pots and dishes, cleaning floors, operating dishwashing equipment, and ensuring a steady supply of clean dishes.

Shift is mainly 12:30pm–9:00pm with some 7:30am–4:00pm occurrences and weekend hours.

Qualifications

• Six months’ experience working as a laborer.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to foster a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.

Responsibilities

• Scraping, sorting, stacking and scrubbing pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. in preparation for dishwashing machine.
• Performing cleaning duties including mopping, sweeping, vacuuming and general cleaning.
• Operating and maintaining pot & pan/dishwashing machines and areas in an efficient, effective and sanitary manner.
• Supplying necessary areas with clean dishes and utensils.
