Job summary

Heinen’s, Inc. in Lake Bluff, IL is seeking a Part-Time Team Member to assist in the Kitchen Department. You will prepare foods, follow approved procedures, and work with the team to provide outstanding service in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work a non-traditional schedule including weekends, with opportunities for promotion and career growth within a family-owned grocery retailer known for quality and service.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize daily tasks based on business needs.
• Prepare foods (sandwiches, wraps, trays) per approved procedures.
• Wash, peel, cut fruits, vegetables and meats for cooking/serving.
• Follow panning, packaging, and merchandising standards.
• Learn and share knowledge of Kitchen Department.
• Monitor food handling and temperature standards.
• Write orders using pars and planning; team collaboration.
• Attend meetings, vendor calls, trainings; ensure safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Prioritize daily work based on varying business needs.


• Prepare a variety of foods, such as sandwiches, wraps, trays, according to customers’ orders following approved procedures.


• Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits, vegetables and meats, to prepare for cooking or serving.


• Follow Heinen’s panning, packaging, and merchandising standards.


• Acquire and share knowledge of Kitchen Department.


• Monitor and maintain all food handling and temperature standards


• Responsible for writing orders using effective pars and planning.


• Responsible for working as a team in order to complete daily tasks as needed, including scanning and recording shrink, order writing (weekly and special orders), stocking, rotating and merchandising.


• Attend required corporate meetings, vendor calls, and training classes.


• Comply with all personal and food safety company standards.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Comply with all company policies and standards.


• Possess a sense of urgency and the ability to work independently to achieve daily tasks.


• Possess the ability to work with minimal supervision.


• Be production driven with the ability to work continuously on repetitive tasks, while standing.


• Possess the ability to frequent lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

• Must be willing to work the number of hours required to meet company objectives, with the understanding that occasionally business needs will require additional time.


• Must be willing to work the non-traditional five-day work schedule, including Saturday, Sunday and evenings.
