Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in retail sales or food prep preferred.

The Kitchen Assistant contributes to the success of a Sur La Table store by inspiring customers on all points of their culinary journey. The Kitchen Assistant blends a passion for cooking and entertaining to support the Chefs in driving business results. The Kitchen Assistant reports to the General Manager.

About the Job: What You’ll Do

1. Provide outstanding customer service at all times – create an experience that people will love
2. Food prep and class setup; may assist with shopping for ingredients
3. Wash dishes and clean kitchen before, during, and after cooking classes
4. Assist instructor as needed during classes; look for opportunities to help
5. Contribute to store goals through product knowledge and sales
6. May handle alcohol
7. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: What You’ll Need

1. Strong communication and teamwork skills
2. Ability to lift and move merchandise and/or kitchen equipment up to 35lbs
3. Ability to stand for extended periods of time
4. Ability to chop, whisk, slice, stir, and use kitchen equipment
5. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
6. Ability to work 3 days per week minimum
7. Valid Food Handlers and/or Food Manager Certification
8. 1 year retail sales and/or food prep and kitchen operations experience preferred
9. Must be at least 18 years old
