Overview

Kitchen Assistant

Serves as an aide in the daily functions of the kitchen. Assists cooks and supervisors in preparation of ingredients, serving food to participants and staff, and washing dishes.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares ingredients to be used in recipes by cooks. Washes, peels, cuts and seeds vegetables and fruits and cleans and cuts meats, poultry and seafood
  • Prepares salad bar and serves food to participants and staff during meal times
  • Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils and washes dishes after food preparation and meal times
  • Complies with applicable health and safety codes
  • Provide courteous and helpful service to guests at all times
  • Assist with re-stocking and inventory rotation not limited to dry and refrigerated goods
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Physical ability to lift 20+ pounds
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency and follow the branch emergency plan
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Food Handler Certification required prior to first shift in the kitchen
  • Familiar with general kitchen operations including, food handling, portion control, and use and care of basic equipment and utensils
  • Must display a positive attitude towards customers and staff, willingness to help others and good communication skills
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range
USD $17.25 - USD $20.19 /Hr.
