2025-26 School Year

Location: Central High

6.0 scheduled hours per day; 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Work August through May when students are in session.

  • Hourly, Full-time position with benefits, paid bi-weekly

Reports To: Executive Director, Nutrition Services

Position Purpose: Assist with meal preparation and service, cleaning, sanitation, stock rotation, dishwashing, and providing customer service.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent attendance and work record required.
  • Food service experience preferred.
  • Basic arithmetic skills and knowledge of safe food handling.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with diverse populations.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of OPS’s mission and goals.
  • Assist with cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas and equipment.
  • Willingness to travel between schools as needed.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
  • Assist with food prep, service, and storage.
  • Complete required reports.
  • Serve as a positive role model and promote service excellence.
  • Follow menu protocols and cross-train in kitchen areas.
  • Monitor portion control, pricing, and storage for financial management.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation procedures, including HACCP.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and effective communication skills.
  • Complete Douglas County Food Handler’s Certification and Kitchen Assistant Training.
Additional Duties

Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Equipment

Operate office and kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, scales, and thermometers.

Travel

Local travel between schools required.

Physical and Mental Demands
  • Respond rapidly in emergencies.
  • Lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in various environments, including wet floors and hot areas.
Physical Demand Classifications

Mostly frequent and occasional physical activities, with rare crawling or kneeling.

Essential Functions

Stand, walk, lift, reach, and perform other physical tasks as described, with safety precautions.

Interrelations
  • Interact with staff, students, parents, and vendors professionally.
  • Work under supervision and handle diverse situations tactfully.
Employee Punctuality and Appearance
  • Perform duties during scheduled hours; prior approval needed for deviations.
  • Dress appropriately to reflect a positive image of OPS.
Terms of Employment

Full-time, non-exempt position governed by state laws and policies, with possible union agreements.
