Job summary

University of Rhode Island is seeking a Cook's Helper (Full-Time, 40 hours, Academic Year) to assist cooks and bakers in food preparation in a state institution kitchen. The role includes washing, peeling, chopping, and basic cooking tasks, serving meals, and maintaining cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas.

Responsibilities include assisting with food prep, operating dishwashing equipment, and helping set up dining tables.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with cooking or baking methods and food service.
• Ability to understand and follow simple verbal or written directions.
• Care in handling, washing, drying and storing cooking equipment and glassware.

Responsibilities

• Assist cooks and bakers by washing, peeling, cutting, weighing and preparing ingredients.
• Assist with food preparation, cooking eggs, making toast and beverages.
• Set up dining tables and serve meals from steam tables; collect trays and clean areas as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining areas, and related equipment; operate dishwashing equipment as needed.
