Job summary

Wyoming Child & Family Development is seeking a Cook Assistant to support daily meal preparation for the Center. You will help the cook, set tables, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen following Head Start and state guidelines.

Requirements include basic cooking skills, ability to follow directions, and participation in trainings. Must pass health assessments and background checks; valid driver’s license and travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Basic cooking skills for meals for many children.
• Ability to follow written and oral directions.
• Ability to meet Wyoming sanitation standards for public kitchens.
• Good stress management abilities.
• Ability to work with families and children birth through age 5.
• Strong communication with staff, children, families and community.
• Adaptability to a flexible daily routine.

Responsibilities

• Assist the cook in kitchen operations and follow directions.
• Prepare meals according to the planned menu.
• Set the table before each meal with appropriate service.
• Clean up after meals and maintain a clean, safe kitchen.
• Follow health standards and state regulations.
• Attend required trainings and promote positive relations.
• Participate in recruiting children per program guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
