Job summary

Wyoming Child and Family Development is seeking a Cook Assistant to support daily meal preparation for the Center's children and to uphold health practices per state and licensing agencies.

You will assist the cook, follow the menu, maintain a clean kitchen, and participate in required trainings including CPR/First Aid within 90 days. Valid driver's license and background checks are required where applicable.

Qualifications

• Basic cooking skills for preparing meals for a large number of children.
• Ability to follow and successfully complete written and oral directions.
• Ability to carry out State of Wyoming's Sanitation Standards for Public Kitchens.
• Must possess proper stress management techniques.
• Must be able to work with families and children birth through age 5.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, children, families and community.
• Must be able to work in a flexible daily routine and change as required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the cook in the overall operation of the kitchen, following directions.
• Assists in preparing meals according to the planned menu.
• Sets the table before each meal, using appropriate table service.
• Cleans up after each meal (table, dishes, etc.).
• Maintains a clean, safe kitchen environment as per State regulations.
• Promotes health standards and positive interactions with staff, parents and children.
• Attends required trainings and participates in community relations.
• Recruits children for the program within guidelines and may assume cook responsibilities if needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned and can work safely with or without accommodations.
