About Helping Hands Reentry Outreach Centers

Helping Hands provides HOPE and CARE through personal, trauma-informed programs to individuals experiencing homelessness. Our programs are Trauma-Informed, Data-Driven, and Person-Centered. We take the time to learn each individual's story and help connect them to the appropriate local resources and services to meet their unique needs. We build strong collaborative partnerships with local programs and foster connections between participants and community partners.

Position Summary

The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for daily tasks such as food prep, cleaning, inventory, stocking, and more. The ideal candidate has a passion for helping others, is nonjudgmental, and can handle difficult situations positively and constructively.

Reports to:

Kitchen Manager

Work Schedule:

Both full and part-time positions available. The facility operates 24/7/365.

Wage:

$17.33 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Hot & cold food preparation
  • Inventory management, stocking, and maintaining refrigerator and cafeteria supplies
  • Receiving deliveries and donation drop-offs
  • General cleaning and sanitation
  • Dishwashing
  • Upholding kitchen guidelines and health & safety rules
  • Attending staff meetings
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Oregon Food Handler's Card
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to move, push, pull, and carry supplies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization
  • Understanding or lived experience related to homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, or sexual assault
