Job summary

Phoenix House of New York is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily meal prep and assist the Campus cook in delivering three meals per day for patients. The role involves stocking, cleaning, knife handling, and safe food practices in a busy kitchen environment.

This position requires prior restaurant experience and a NYS Serv Safe certificate, with on-the-job training provided. Long Island City location, full-time, non-exempt, with comprehensive benefits and competitive wages.

Responsibilities

• Receives deliveries and stores food in refrigerators and freezers.
• Rotates stock to maintain freshness.
• Cleans food preparation areas and removes garbage from the kitchen.
• Prepares ingredients for Campus cook to prepare entrees and meals.
• Washes, chops, grates and slices vegetables and meats to portion sizes.
• Assists in complying with special food handling requirements for restricted diets.
