Job summary

Maize USD 266 is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support school meals in a fast-paced school kitchen. The role operates only on school days with a 3.5-hour shift, focusing on preparing and serving nutritious meals to students.

• Must stand/walk 80% and lift/carry for long periods

Responsibilities

• Prepare healthy and appealing food for students
• Follow sanitation standards to meet district, state, and federal guidelines
• Serve food to students and staff in a timely, friendly manner
• Assist in daily food service tasks (washing dishes, scanning tickets, cleaning, organizing)
• Track inventory and communicate with the manager
• Monitor temperatures and HACCP compliance
• Maintain confidentiality
• Perform other duties to ensure efficient operation
• Perform deep cleaning/defrosting tasks
• Maintain regular attendance as required by policies

The Food Service department works school days only - no nights, weekends, or holidays! This position works 3.5 hours per day.

A Day In The Life

• Prepare healthy and appealing food
• Utilize sound sanitation standards to meet district, state, and federal guidelines
• Serve food so that students and staff receive their food in a timely and friendly manner
• Assist in tasks necessary for efficient functioning of the food service program (washing dishes, scanning tickets, cleaning, organizing)
• Track inventory and communicate with the manager
• Monitor temperatures of foods, dishwasher, etc ensuring HACCP compliance
• Maintain confidentiality
• Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the food service program
• Perform deep cleaning/defrosting tasks
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as required by the Board of Education policies and regulations
