Job summary

T.C. Harris School & Academy, a MyPath Company, is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the Health Services/Dietary team. You will help with meal prep, keep the kitchen clean, and ensure meals meet safety and nutrition guidelines.

The role requires flexibility for weekends/holidays and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Working hours are primarily day and afternoon, 11:00am to 7:30pm, with shifts and emergency coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience operating kitchen equipment including dishwasher.
• Strong emphasis on cleanliness and food safety.
• Ability to work both in a team and independently.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist Cooks in the preparation and serving of meals.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining areas, storeroom, freezer and cooler.
• Wash and sanitize utensils and equipment.
• Ensure proper storage of all kitchen tools and supplies.
• Follow safety and sanitation protocols.

The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for supporting meal preparation, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, and ensuring that meals are prepared and served in accordance with safety and nutritional guidelines.Key Responsibilities:Food Preparation & Kitchen SupportAssist Cooks in the preparation and serving of meals.Prepare special meals as needed and assist with pre-meal setup.Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, dining areas, storeroom, freezer, and cooler.Wash and sanitize cooking utensils, eating utensils, and kitchen equipment.Ensure the proper storage of all kitchen tools and supplies.Safety & SanitationFollow all food safety and infection control protocols.Report any equipment malfunctions to the Food Services Supervisor.Dispose of waste properly and manage kitchen laundry daily.Ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment by adhering to agency health and safety policies.Team Collaboration & CommunicationAttend and actively participate in food service meetings and required training sessions.Communicate positively and openly with all staff members.Read and follow daily communications, memos, and updates.Follow directives from the Food Services Supervisor and assist with other duties as assigned.Schedule:Primarily day and afternoon shifts 11:00am to 7:30pm with flexibility to meet program needs.Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency kitchen needs as necessary.Comprehensive Employee Benefits PackageAt T.C.
