Job summary

YMCA Camp Collins in Gresham, OR is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join either part-time or full-time. You will support meal service and lead a small team in preparing healthy meals for campers, staff, and guests.

Responsibilities include food preparation, cleanliness, equipment operation, and safe handling, with weekend possibilities and a minimum 24 hours per week. Background check, CPR/First Aid, and Food Handler certifications required or obtainable within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Pass YMCA background check.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Participate in all assigned trainings.
• CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers certifications or ability to acquire within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare healthy and appealing meals in a timely manner
• Perform kitchen cleaning duties such as operation of the dishwasher, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
• Communicate effectively with other members of the food services team.
• Operate food preparation utensils, such as knives and peelers, requiring excellent hand/eye coordination.
• Operate industrial food preparation equipment requiring excellent hand/eye coordination, ability to comprehend operation safety instructions.
• Practices and promotes cleanliness, proper food handling, as well as proper recycling/composting & trash disposal
• This position may have some weekend responsibilities.
• Minimum of 3-day work week, 24+ hours per week, scheduled with supervisor
