Job summary

YMCA Camp Collins in Gresham, OR seeks a Kitchen Assistant for part-time or full-time work to lead our food service and provide healthy, appealing meals for campers, staff, families and retreat guests.

The role requires a 24+ hour work week, weekend flexibility, and CPR/First Aid and Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days). Benefits include health insurance, retirement, vacation, and a YMCA membership.

Qualifications

• Must pass YMCA background check.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers certifications or ability to acquire within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare healthy and appealing meals in a timely manner.
• Perform kitchen cleaning duties such as dishwasher operation, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
• Communicate effectively with other members of the food services team.
• Operate food preparation utensils with good hand/eye coordination.
• Operate industrial kitchen equipment and follow safety instructions.
• Promote cleanliness, proper food handling, recycling/composting & trash disposal.
• This position may have some weekend responsibilities.
• Minimum of 3-day work week, 24+ hours per week, scheduled with supervisor

Our meal service is a vital part of our camper and guest experience, and we need you to lead this team. YMCA Camp Collins is nestled in the trees in Gresham, OR along the banks of the beautiful Sandy River.

What would you be doing?

Requirements

What do you need to qualify?

• CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers certifications or ability to acquire within 30 days of employment.
