Job summary

Bupa Bethesda Care Home in Christchurch is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily kitchen operations, prepare and present meals, and uphold high food safety standards. In this permanent full-time role, you’ll work a 6-week rotating roster with early morning shifts, join a collaborative kitchen team, and contribute to delivering nutritious meals to residents with compassion and reliability.

Qualifications

• Preferably 1 year experience in a similar role, but full training and development will be provided
• Experience following established recipes and preparing food to a high standard
• Proactive team player who can work independently and pitch in where needed
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality presentation
• Excellent time management & communication skills, following instruction accurately
• Empathetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about making a positive difference for residents
• Available to work rotating rostered shifts, including weekends
• Reliable transport and travel arrangements

Hours & Roster Details

• Employment Type: Permanent Full- Time
• Hours: Average 35 hours/week/210 hours/6 weeks roster period
• Shift Time: 6am – 2pm
• Roster Pattern: 4 days on, 2 days off (6-weekly rotating roster across Monday - Sunday)

The purpose of this job

Bupa Bethesda Care Home is located in the leafy Christchurch suburb of Bishopdale. The home offers rest home, hospital, and dementia care.

As a Kitchen Assistant you will:
