Job summary

Modern Cabinets & Co is seeking a Kitchen and Bath Designer for a full-time, on-site role in the Detroit metropolitan area. You will meet with clients in the showroom, understand their needs, and translate them into functional, visually appealing kitchen and bath designs with detailed layouts and renderings.

You will recommend cabinetry, countertops, flooring, tile, and vanities, prepare quotes, coordinate with sales and installation teams, and maintain documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong kitchen and bath design expertise to craft practical, attractive layouts
• Excellent customer service guiding clients through product selection and decisions
• Clear communication for collaboration with customers, internal teams, contractors, and vendors
• Sales skills to present design solutions and support project closes in a consultative manner
• Solid cabinetry knowledge including construction, finishes, hardware, and installation considerations
• Experience with design software (e.g., 2020, SketchUp) and basic measurement/space planning
• Attention to detail, highly organized, capable of multi-project management
• Prior kitchen/bath design experience or related field; certifications or education a plus
• Comfort working in showroom and visiting Detroit-area job sites when needed

Role Description

The Kitchen and Bath Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. This role involves meeting with customers in the showroom, understanding their needs and preferences, and translating them into functional, visually appealing kitchen and bath designs. The designer will create detailed layouts and renderings, recommend cabinetry, countertops, flooring, tile, and vanities, and ensure designs align with budget and project timelines. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing quotes, coordinating with sales and installation teams, managing project details from initial concept through completion, and maintaining accurate documentation. The role also requires providing professional product guidance, delivering consistent customer service, and supporting showroom merchandising and displays.

• Previous experience in kitchen and bath design, interior design, or a related field; relevant certifications or design education are a plus.
• Comfort working in a showroom environment and occasionally visiting job sites in the Detroit Metropolitan Area.
