Job summary

Zinnia Health is seeking a Kitchen Aide to support the culinary team in preparing nutritious meals for residents and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen. The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to health regulations, and compassionate interaction with individuals in recovery.

Responsibilities include assistive prep, cooking support, inventory tracking, and serving meals while meeting dietary needs. No prior certifications are mandatory, but Food Handler’s or ServSafe is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen or food service preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and handle kitchen equipment safely.
• Stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy items.
• Food Handler’s Certificate or ServSafe certification is a plus.
• Compassionate and understanding towards individuals in recovery, with a non-judgmental attitude and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of ingredients for meals, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning.
• Cooking Assistance: Support the culinary team in cooking tasks, including operating kitchen appliances and cooking equipment.
• Cleaning and Sanitization: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen by following proper sanitation practices, including cleaning dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
• Inventory Management: Assist with receiving and storing food supplies, keeping track of inventory levels, and ensuring proper rotation of stock.
• Meal Service: Help with plating and serving meals to residents, ensuring that dietary needs and preferences are met.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handling and storage of food to prevent contamination.
• Team Support: Collaborate with kitchen staff and other facility team members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
• Resident Interaction: Provide positive and supportive interactions with residents, promoting a respectful and encouraging atmosphere.
