Job summary

Four Oaks Family and Children Services in Davenport, IA is seeking a Kinship Navigator Specialist to help keep children connected with relatives and strengthen kinship supports. You will assess caregiver needs, develop Kinship Support Plans, and connect families with essential services.

If you have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in social work or a related field and at least two years in child welfare, you’ll fit right in.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s or AA degree in social work or a human services related field with two years of full-time paid experience in child welfare.
• Prior experience working with Foster and Adoptive families is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support kinship caregivers who are providing safe and loving homes for children within their extended families or natural support systems.
• Partner with children, parents, relatives, fictive kin, and community professionals to identify needs, overcome barriers, and create positive outcomes.
• Assess caregiver needs and develop individualized Kinship Support Plans with achievable goals and action steps.
• Help caregivers access essential services, including childcare, food assistance, clothing, furniture, transportation, and medical, dental, and mental health care.
• Assist families in accessing community programs, financial assistance, medical insurance, and legal support when needed.
• Connect caregivers with support groups and community resources that encourage shared experiences and emotional support.
• Work collaboratively with families and community partners to maintain stable placements and prioritize child safety.
• Use a strengths-based approach to help families recognize abilities, build confidence, and create lasting stability.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in social work or related field

Master's Degree in Human Services

AA degree in social work or related field
