Job Title: Rental Shop Manager

Position Summary

The Rental Shop Manager at King Pine Ski Area is responsible for the overall operation of the rental department, including staff management, inventory oversight, customer service, and equipment maintenance. This leadership role ensures a smooth, efficient, and guest-friendly rental experience while maintaining safety standards and maximizing sales opportunities.

Responsibilities Include

  • Staff Leadership
    • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise rental shop employees
    • Foster a positive and productive team environment
    • Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations
  • Operations Management
    • Oversee daily rental operations, including equipment check-in/out, fitting, and returns
    • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
    • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and repaired
  • Customer Service
    • Deliver exceptional guest service and resolve customer issues efficiently
    • Uphold safety standards during fittings and equipment tuning
    • Promote add-ons and upgrades to enhance the guest experience
  • Inventory & Equipment
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels of rental gear and supplies
    • Track usage, loss, and damage of equipment
    • Coordinate seasonal inventory transitions and ordering
  • Sales & Reporting
    • Meet revenue targets through strategic upselling and effective rental flows
    • Track and report daily sales, rentals, and labor hours
    • Collaborate with marketing or retail teams to drive promotions
Position Requirements

Qualifications Include

  • Previous experience in retail or rental operations, ideally in a supervisory role
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of equipment (e.g., skis, snowboards, ice skates)
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to lift/move equipment and stand for extended periods
  • Familiarity with rental software systems a plus

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in a ski or outdoor recreation rental shop
  • Certification in equipment repair or safety (e.g., ski tech certification)
