Job summary

Woodbrook Elementary School in Charlottesville seeks a part-time Teaching Assistant (Kindergarten) for the 2026-27 school year. Balancing instructional support with classroom management, you will assist with learning tasks and student supervision, four hours per day.

You'll work under the direction of the classroom teacher to implement lessons, support behavior management, and help with routine activities such as lunch, attendance, and transitions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; willingness to obtain CPR certification.
• Experience assisting in kindergarten or elementary classroom settings preferred.
• Ability to support classroom teacher with instructional tasks and follow guidance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out instructional plans as designated by the classroom teacher and, if appropriate, the student's IEP.
• Maintain pleasant and orderly classroom environment and bulletin boards.
• Assist with classroom behavior and discipline under teacher direction.
• Procure, set up, and operate audio-visual equipment.
• Assist students in completing learning tasks and transitions.
• Clerical duties: typing, filing, duplicating as directed.
• Supervise lunch and non-instructional times.
• Assist with attendance and lunch monies as directed.
