Job description

St. Barnabas Catholic School is seeking a passionate and faith-filled Kindergarten Teacher to support the academic, spiritual, and social-emotional growth of young learners as they begin their elementary journey.

Position Summary

Rooted in our Catholic identity and guided by developmentally appropriate practices, the Kindergarten program at St. Barnabas blends structured learning with hands-on exploration, fostering a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and religious formation. The ideal candidate is a warm, organized, and collaborative educator committed to nurturing the whole child and building strong relationships with families and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Curriculum and Instruction
    • Deliver engaging instruction aligned with Ohio Learning Standards and Diocesan curriculum across core subjects, including reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and religion.
    • Integrate Catholic teachings, prayer, and weekly Mass into classroom routines.
    • Utilize a balanced approach that includes direct instruction, cooperative learning, and purposeful play.
    • Provide differentiated instruction and small-group support based on student needs.
  2. Classroom Environment
    • Create a nurturing, joyful, and inclusive classroom that fosters independence, empathy, and problem-solving.
    • Establish and maintain clear routines and expectations reflective of best practices in early childhood education.
    • Promote a classroom culture grounded in Catholic values and positive behavior.
  3. Assessment and Communication
    • Monitor and assess student growth using developmentally appropriate tools and observational data.
    • Utilize standards-based grading to evaluate student progress and communicate mastery of learning goals.
    • Communicate regularly with families through newsletters, conferences, and digital platforms.
    • Maintain accurate records and contribute to school-wide data practices.
  4. Professionalism and Collaboration
    • Collaborate with grade-level teammates, instructional aides, and specialists to support student success.
    • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
    • Uphold the mission and values of St. Barnabas School with professionalism and integrity.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
  • Valid Ohio Teaching License (Early Childhood P–3 preferred).
