Position: Long-Term Substitute Kindergarten Teacher

Location: Villa Academy, Seattle

Villa Academy seeks a dedicated Kindergarten Teacher to lead one of three classrooms from August 19, 2025, to December 5, 2025. This role involves supporting whole-child education through an inquiry-based approach, with access to extensive outdoor learning spaces.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Teach one Kindergarten class supported by two Instructional Assistants.
  2. Implement curriculum using an inquiry-based approach aligned with Villa Academy standards.
  3. Support positive behavior using Responsive Classroom principles.
  4. Incorporate social-emotional learning into daily activities.
  5. Establish and maintain a safe, respectful classroom environment.
  6. Communicate effectively with families, colleagues, and administration.
  7. Collaborate with staff to improve instructional strategies.
  8. Use technology and hands-on activities to enhance learning.
  9. Assess and provide feedback on student performance.
  10. Participate in school meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
  11. Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Villa Academy.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field; Master’s or teaching credential preferred.
  2. At least 3 years of elementary teaching experience, Kindergarten experience preferred.
  3. Strong understanding of child development and early learning practices.
  4. Experience with Responsive Classroom or similar approaches.
