Role Mission

IDEA Academy teachers are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student masters the academic and social skills necessary to succeed in college, while also embodying IDEA’s values daily.

In addition, IDEA Academy teachers set ambitious goals for student achievement and invest students and families in accomplishing them; create a powerful learning environment; plan and deliver purposeful, rigorous instruction; assess for mastery and track student progress toward goals; analyze data to intervene and adjust instruction; and seek excellence as an educator and an IDEA team member.

What We Offer
Compensation
  • Starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $62,500. This role is eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership, ranging from $500-$4,000. Opportunities through our Teacher Career Pathway can earn up to an additional $10,000. For details, visit our compensation and benefits page.
  • Additional hourly compensation for after school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.
Other Benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering the majority of employee premiums for the medical plan and subsidies for dependents. Some benefits include:

  • Paid Family Leave: Up to 8 weeks for birth or adoption, based on tenure and caregiver status.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Up to 50% of tuition up to $5,250 annually, subject to discretion and budget.
  • Employer-Paid Mental/Behavioral Health: 5 face-to-face sessions annually, unlimited telephonic counseling, and other services at no cost.

What You Bring — Competencies
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in content area evidenced by certification, field of study, or work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in a K-12 classroom preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Certification in accordance with TEA requirements for K-3 teachers; bilingual, content, and ESL certifications are strongly preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of core academic subjects and ability to pass IDEA assessments.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to various situations in the school environment.
What You’ll Do — Responsibilities
  • Implement state standards, IDEA curricula, and assessments to meet academic goals.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance.
  • Use assessments to monitor progress, adjust lessons, and update gradebook weekly.
  • Communicate student progress weekly with students and families.
  • Utilize technology effectively for communication and instruction.
  • Implement behavior management aligned with campus initiatives, fostering character and community.
  • Develop a school-wide culture of productivity and enthusiasm.
  • Build trusting relationships with students and families.
  • Host tutoring sessions as needed.
  • Participate in weekly meetings and school functions.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Work at least 40 hours per week at school.
  • Additional duties may include after-school or Saturday tutoring based on needs.
