Crystal Lake School District 47 currently has an opening for a Kindergarten Teacher, anticipated for the 2025-2026 school year. The goal of this position is to create a flexible, grade-appropriate program and class environment conducive to learning and personal growth. The role involves establishing effective rapport with students, motivating them to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge, and fostering positive relationships with parents and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement the curriculum adopted by the Board of Education.
- Instruct students in basic subject matter as per state law, district regulations, expectations, procedures, and standards of performance.
- Select or develop instructional materials for individualized and small group instruction to meet students' needs.
- Translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences, optimizing instructional time.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to promote a positive learning environment.
- Assess students’ academic and emotional development, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents regarding students’ progress through conferences and other means.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with professional staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
- Maintain professional competence through district-provided or self-initiated professional development activities.
- Participate in performance evaluations and curriculum development programs.
- Assist in selecting instructional materials and maintain inventory records.
- Administer standardized tests as per district testing programs.
- Participate in faculty committees and student activities.
- Perform job functions safely, without posing health or safety threats.
- Report to building administrators.
Skills and Experience Required
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License.
- Elementary Education endorsement.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
- Student teaching or experience in a K-5 classroom.
