A school district in Indiana seeks an Elementary School Teacher for Grassy Creek Elementary. The role primarily involves developing lesson plans, implementing the curriculum, and monitoring student progress. Qualified candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree and a valid Indiana Teaching License.
Works with administrators, other Teachers, and instructional teams to plan and implement instruction according to the District approved and adopted curriculum;
Develops daily lesson plans and presents lessons using a variety of instructional methods to ensure effective curriculum coverage throughout the semester or school year;
Understands and implements the use of adopted curriculum, instructional materials, and digital platforms;
Prepares instruction with various techniques, strategies, assignments, and assessments for learning;
Monitors, assists, corrects, re-teaches, and remediates student performance to ensure progress;
Diagnoses and analyzes student progress to provide appropriate instruction based on developmental needs;
Provides feedback to students during instruction, small groups, and digital platforms;
Utilizes classroom management techniques to create an effective learning environment;
Manages student behavior and administers discipline as needed;
Promotes student self-esteem and shows sensitivity to students, parents, and community;
Counsels students with academic or behavioral issues and seeks additional help when needed;
Maintains professional relationships with parents and communicates regularly through conferences, calls, and digital platforms;
Encourages parental involvement through various activities;
Participates in faculty meetings, professional development, and school improvement efforts;
Conducts standardized tests as per guidelines and maintains accurate records;
Assigns grades, recommends student promotion or retention, and participates in placement decisions;
Ensures safety and protection of students and their property;
Supervises students during various activities;
Keeps up-to-date with current technology and attends training as needed;
Maintains accurate and timely information related to job responsibilities;
Shares monitoring responsibilities with staff;
Performs related duties such as sponsoring clubs, coaching, or supervising after-school activities;
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
JOB TITLE: Teacher
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt (Professional), salaried employee
WORK DAYS: 184 days (excluding holidays)
STANDARD HOURS PER DAY: 7 hours
WORK YEAR: As per school calendar adopted by the Board of Education;
SALARY & BENEFITS: Paid on the “Teachers” salary schedule; eligible for benefits accordingly.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or other administrators.
SUPERVISES: Instructional assistants assigned to the classroom.
GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for teaching student groups, developing lesson plans, using various instructional methods, and assessing student learning to ensure success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ENTRY-LEVEL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
2. Completion of student teaching and coursework for Indiana Teacher’s License.
3. Valid Indiana Teacher’s License in relevant grade/subject area or eligibility for Emergency Permit.
4. Ability to meet physical, sensory, and environmental requirements of the role.
PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Involves movement, communication, and visual/auditory perception necessary for teaching and supervising students.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Tasks are performed mainly indoors with minimal exposure to adverse conditions.
