At CHCCS, a teacher's goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience needed to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to live a rewarding life in an ever-changing world.
Essential Duties
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to the students.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
- Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss the student's progress and interpret the school program.
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities and self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Participate in curriculum development programs, faculty committees, and sponsorship of student activities.
- Instruct pupils in the classroom using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize instruction time.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote an optimal learning environment for pupils.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Holds, or is eligible to hold, a North Carolina Professional Educator's license in the assigned area.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered by the board if appropriate and acceptable.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards.
