Job summary

Omaha Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional for Kindergarten Educational duties. The role supports instruction and student engagement under teacher supervision. Requires an Associate degree or college hours and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

This position reports to the Building Principal and runs a 7-hour day, 185 duty days per year. The paraprofessional works closely with staff to meet individual student needs, participates as a team member, and performs routine classroom tasks to

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 48 semester hours (72 quarter hours) or demonstrated proficiency to assist in instruction of reading, writing and mathematics.
• Evidence of good mental and physical health.
• Dependable with good work attendance record.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in meeting individual needs of children as directed by professional staff.
• Work as a team member.
• Follow specialist's/teacher's directions.
• Engage actively in learning experiences with students.
• Be on the floor and actively interact with children.
• Perform routine classroom management and maintenance duties.
