An established and thriving school is seeking a Lead Kindergarten Teacher who embodies the principles of the Waldorf method. This role offers the freedom to creatively engage with children, fostering their growth through outdoor play and a rich curriculum. You'll be part of a supportive community that values education and collaboration, with ample preparation time and opportunities for professional development. If you're passionate about nurturing young minds and want to work in a vibrant environment that respects childhood, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
The heart of the Waldorf method is that education is an art-it must speak to the child’s experience. To educate the whole child, his heart and his will must be reached, as well as the mind.
– Rudolf Steiner
The right candidate for the Lead Kindergarten Teacher at Prairie Hill Waldorf School will be offered:
What does the day look like?
The day begins with the children being dropped off to gather and explore the outdoor classroom until the class ventures off on a meadow walk. During the meadow walk or shortly after, the teachers and children engage in circle and movement. After the meadow walk, the class returns to the outdoor classroom for more play, snack, and good work. Sometimes the class moves indoors for painting, handwork, making rolls, or other activities. Examples of good work include raking, gardening, building, chopping vegetables for stone soup, helping a friend, and more. The teacher shares a story or puppet play before lunch is served, family style and set with reverence. Everyone has a role in helping prepare and clean up for lunch. Rest follows lunch and a bit more play to conclude the day as parents meet their children’s class outside for pickup.
