Virginia Beach Schools is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to assist the kindergarten teacher with instructional activities and reinforce material through targeted support. You will help create a positive learning environment and support students with diverse needs.

The role involves planning lessons, supervising activities, and performing standard clerical tasks to support classroom operations. A high school diploma or GED is required, with additional credits or degree preferred for Title I

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Title I Assistants Only: 48 college credits or Paraprofessional Assessment, or an Associate's Degree or higher.
• Some experience working with children preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Assist classroom teacher in specific duties and specialized tasks.
• Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt curriculum to students' needs.
• Help establish and maintain classroom behavior standards.
• Prepare instructional materials and read to students.
• Create a conducive learning environment aligned with student maturity and interests.
• Assist in planning daily and long-range lessons and activities.
• Conduct learning exercises with small groups of students.
• Alert teacher to special needs of individual students.
• Provide escort and assistance to children as necessary.
• Check student work for adherence to instructions.
• Maintain individual student records and display educational displays.
• Protect students, equipment, and facilities; follow safety protocols.
• Assist in implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
• Help maintain classroom order and keep students on task.
• Perform office tasks such as photocopying, filing, and answering phones.
• Select and check out library materials for teacher use.
