Job summary

Pulaski County Special School District is seeking a Kindergarten Para Educator for the 2026-2027 school year at Sherwood Elementary in Sherwood, AR. The role involves assisting teachers in the kindergarten program and supporting daily instructional activities.

The position is full-time, 178 contract days, 7 hours per day, non-exempt, classified staff with benefits eligible. Starting date is Aug 10, 2026, with application deadline Aug 22, 2026 or until filled.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least one of the following options.
• 60 college credit hours completed.
• Associate’s degree (or higher) obtained.
• Passed a paraprofessional academic assessment test.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce instructional activities with students as prescribed by the teacher.
• Help set up centers at the beginning of the day.
• Help check in children (Lunch money, back packs, toileting, etc.).
• Do lunch count and attendance daily.
• Perform recess duties.
• Prepare and clean up snacks daily; inform teacher when supplies are low.
• Prepare art projects and clean up afterwards, including painting supplies.
• Prepare instructional lessons as directed by the teacher.
• Supervise children in lunch room.
• Supervise behavior of children in your care.
• Clean sink and dust shelves as needed.
• Help children change clothes when accidents occur.
• Participate in in-services and faculty meetings as directed.
• Report to classroom teacher and building principal.
• Other duties as assigned.
